Summer Tips and Activities

Dear Parents, שיחיו

Summer is a wonderful time to enjoy the sunshine, build memories, and nurture your child’s development through joyful play and Jewish values.

The Summer Box Package is specially designed for children ages 0-3 years. See below summer safety reminders, a suggested daily routine, water play, sensory, gross motor, and fine motor activity ideas to enjoy with your child at home. We encourage you to keep summer relaxed but structured. Routine gives young children a sense of calm and security, especially when framed by care.

Wishing you a safe, joyful and meaningful summer.

Summer Actitivies: Water Play

Water Table with Cups and Spoons
Provide a water table or large container with water and let your kids explore scooping, pouring, and splashing with cups, spoons, and other safe containers.

Painting with Water
Offer a bucket of water and paint brushes (or sponges, rollers) and let your kids "paint" on a chalkboard, sidewalk, or fence.

Sensory Bin with Floating Objects
Fill a bin with water and add safe, floating toys like bath toys, balls, or even cut-up pool noodles. Let them explore textures and movement!

Tummy Time on a Water Mat
Inflatable water mats designed for tummy time offer a fun and engaging way for babies to strengthen muscles while interacting with water.

Wash the Dishes
Provide a small tub of soapy water and some toy dishes, cups, and sponges for toddlers to practice "washing".

Plastic Ziploc Exploration
Fill a Ziploc bag ⅔ of the way with water and add in any material - pompoms, Orbeez, beans, frozen peas - the options are endless! Tape all four sides of the bag to your high chair tray. Let your baby explore the unique sensory water experience!

Safe and Supervised Fun
Kiddie Pool: A small, shallow pool can provide a safe space for splashing and playing.

Sprinkler: A simple sprinkler can be a fun way to cool off on a warm day.

Bath Toys in a New Setting: Bring bath toys out of the tub and into a new setting any shallow container will do!

Summer Actitivies: Fine Motor

Spoon tapping or transfer
Let babies hold and bang a spoon on different surfaces (high chair, bowls) for toddlers, scoop soft objects (like cotton balls) from one bowl to another.

Tearing paper
Give toddlers soft tissue paper or scrap paper to crinkle and tear with supervision. It’s great sensory play and strengthens tiny fingers!

Stickers on paper or windows (Ages 1+)
Peeling and sticking helps build precision and control — fun on paper, mirrors, or windows!

Sorting
Use household items like blocks, socks, or cereal. Sort by color, size, or type into cups or muffin tins.

Threading beads or pasta
Thread large beads or dried pasta onto shoelaces or pipe cleaners. Try making patterns or “bracelets.”

Summer Actitivies: Gross Motor

Crawling through tunnels
Use pop-up tunnels or make your own with chairs and blankets — kids crawl through from one end to the other.

Toddler movement/stretching with music
Play calming music and guide simple moves like reaching up, touching toes, or child’s pose.

Balloon volleyball
Blow up a balloon and bat it back and forth with hands or paper plate paddles.

Parachute play
Use a large sheet or small parachute, lift and lower together — add balls or take turns running underneath.

Obstacle courses
Set up a path with pillows, chairs, and household objects. Crawl, climb, and jump through the path.
